About 20 years ago I spent a month at a Buddhist monastery in Nepal studying Buddhist philosophy and practicing meditation. There were hundreds of monks there, from boys as young as about 5 up to men who were very elderly.
Anyway, there was this one young monk, perhaps aged 7 or so who caught my attention. He was still a kid like the others, he played the same games but etc but he stood out.
I couldn't put my finger on it, he was extremely charismatic, like an old soul in a young body. I learned later he was a reincarnation of a prominent lama who had been identified as such at a very early age.
Now you could argue he was different because the other monks probably treated him differently but this kid had more of a personality than most adults I've ever met.
This experience, along with others, has made me much more open to the possibility of reincarnation.
