TRUE FREEDOM IS FOUND IN CHRIST “Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God.” Those are the words surrounding the scene on a national seal, designed and proposed by Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, just a couple of months after the American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain in 1776. They clearly believed in and were influenced by the story of the biblical Exodus, enough so that they proposed a national seal (see below) which depicted Moses and the Israelites on the shore with pharaoh and his chariots being drowned and consumed in the Red Sea, as a symbol of freedom and liberation from tyranny. At Epic Archaeology we believe and defend the truth that the Exodus really happened! Ultimately it is a foreshadowing of the true freedom that is found in Christ (Gal. 5:1).
