One thing to consider: if you rail against ICE and the fascism of it (it IS fascist in the sense ALL governments are top down and fascist), do you find yourself getting praised or criticized mostly? If you are pseudonymous and someone doxxed you, would you be at risk at your job for railing against ICE right now? Would you be at risk of government persecution for railing against the tyranny of ICE? Would you be at risk of excommunication in your social and professional spheres, or are you mostly getting pats on the back? Are you at risk of deplatforming on legacy social media? Contrast that with five years ago if you railed against the mRNA shots, called them poison, said they don’t stop the spread, aren’t tested, might be a bioweapon? Would you lose your corporate job if doxxed? Would your pussified friends and colleagues invite you to brunch? Would the AWFULs in the family try to exclude you from Thanksgiving dinner? Would the government try to set up a bureau to disincentivize “misinformation?” Consider this for yourself, come to your own conclusions about what’s truly encroaching on your rights and what’s not.
Libertarianism and communism are two sides of the same coin. That coin is denial of human nature. The solution to human prosperity at scale is balance between top down and bottom up, which means limited government, armed citizens, minimal coercion (laws, police, etc.) required to create good conditions for individual freedom and prosperity. Like pulling weeds from the garden so the desired varietals can grow. Libertarianism is like letting the garden get overrun, communism is like spraying it with Roundup.
The irony of the "defund the police” crowd is they’ll end up having way MORE of a police state when the conditions become intolerable. Everyone wants a tidy paradigm that’ll solve humanity’s problems once and for all. The socialists just think if we tried *real* socialism, the communists want “real communism,” the anarchists want “real anarchy” but none of that shit works in practice. We had anarchy, i.e., the nasty, brutish and short state of nature, we’ve tried communism, and it killed > 100M people last century. There are no isms, no paradigms that will solve the problems of humans living among other humans. Best trade-off I can come up with is top-down fascist government but only to the absolute minumum extent necessary to foster the conditions for maximum bottom-up prosperity. That’s messy though because once you have a top-down government, you have to watch to make sure it’s (a) doing it’s job (keeping order, protecting its borders, arresting criminals); and (b) not overstepping its job by undermining bottom-up prosperity with regulations, cronyism, onerous taxation, bureaucracy, etc. You have to have a government and keep it within these narrow bounds. Does too little, you slip into anarchy. Does too much, you slip into communism/totatitarianism. It’s like water — too cold, you get ICE (no pun intended), too hot you get steam.
The argument that ICE is bad because they could screw up and arrest actual citizens is the same argument as the police are bad because they could screw up and arrest innocent people. This is basically “defund the police” in different clothing.
The ICE outrage is bizarre. They are trying to catch and deport illegals, some of whom have committed additional crimes. Every administration does this, it’s just part of the business of running a country with borders. Every country does this too. Why are they shooting people? Because those people are getting in the way and creating dangerous situations. Could they have used less than lethal force? Probably (at least as far as I can tell.) But the only reason there is ANY force necessary is that particular states are resisting rather than the usual practice of turning them over, and they’ve riled up the TDS crowd to do stupid and dangerous things. If you are in the US legally, ICE is not coming for you. It just isn’t. If you ignore ICE, it will ignore you. I can’t believe people are comparing the ICE raids with the Covid tyranny. They fucking locked you in your house and wouldn’t let you participate in society unless you injected yourself with poison. They were setting up a “disinformation bureau!” The closest thing Trump has done to this is the retarded antisemitism laws which will so obviously only increase antisemitism because everyone fucking hates the teacher’s pet. But those are dangerous because they are plain violations of the 1A and a terrible precedent. But ICE? Trump deported fewer people in 2025 than Obama did most years. Weird how no one was saying shit then.
