The nostr bots are getting bad. Is there some way to stop them?

I've been giving the whole idea of voting with your wallet/feet a lot of thought. I've come to the conclusion that I can't live in two worlds at once. If I want to channel the American spirit I don't get to stay in Britain (the current realm) AND be free. What this means to me, in the digital realm, is I have to make some choices. What happened today with Damus and Swan is what locked this thought in for me. I want nostr to work, but I never use it. I'm over here "ya! freedom! Down with centralization!" and checking Twitter every time I take a piss or have 30 spare seconds. I think the answer, for now, is to use both. The digital realm offers us that opportunity.

Is there a way for me to see random other stuff on Nostr? Or will I only ever see notes from people I follow?

Is Nostr a way to protect children online? If a child has a key and their friends have theirs, would that be a way to ensure only verified individuals could speak to said child?
