Today was such an amazing second day lesson at Bitcoin Dada. Femi a dedicated entrepreneur passionate about changing the world through sound money gave an eye opening presentation on the history of money, especially in the African context. He explained how money has evolved from barter, exchanging oranges for carrots, to commodity money like shells,to gold, to minted coins such as silver and gold, to representative money, and eventually to printed money with no backing. He highlighted how, during the gold era, central authorities held people’s gold and issued receipts. But over time, they began printing more money than the gold they held a system that fully broke in 1971. This shift led to inflation and raised concerns globally. Femi clearly showed how this system has negatively affected African countries: • concentrating power in one central authority that can print money at will, • benefiting the state while impoverishing citizens through inflation, • and limiting African trade, collaboration, and opportunity because of unstable state issued currencies. The solution? Bitcoin. Introduced through the 2008 white paper and brought to life with the first block in 2009, Bitcoin offers: • borderless money, • no central authority, • security through a global network of computers, • open participation for everyone, • resistance to corruption, • and value based on consensus, not manipulation. Bitcoin empowers every human being, anywhere. No permission needed. No gatekeepers. It has truly been an eye opening session. I’m grateful to be part of a community that is reshaping Africa’s understanding of money and building hope through Bitcoin education. 💛🧡⚡ image
Money is such a sophisticated tool that facilitates communication between two total strangers, speaking different languages but agreeing on value, trade, and exchange. It allows communication between the future and the present.
I’m the kind of person who will help as many school dropouts return to class, even when I don’t yet know where the school materials will come from. But somehow, it always works out. They always find their way back.
How do I get to campaign for a girl centred design program called Girl Think Initiative where we are bringing back girls to schools in Malawi and is currently under Women of Satoshi Cooperative. We are supporting these girls through their communities by building circular economies, teaching Bitcoin Education and we are also looking for support for building small computer labs in public primary and secondary schools where they can learn about Bitcoin in general and also learn about Bitcoin development.
This is amazing.
I mean you can't manage to miss this one image
Let's look at the state fiduciary currencies, why at the first place are just printed without anything to back them off just like how godsmiths initially did with holding gold and issuing receipts as proof of the gold kept. These fiduciary currencies are ofcourse portable and easy to use but they do not have any intrinsic value hence we are here preaching about Bitcoin.
If you study and understand the evolution of money, coming from believing money is an asset, then believing in shells and gemstones,to gold, then paper money, then digital and finally to crypto..you will agree with me that the whole evolution was to end up at Bitcoin. A decentralized store of value that respects time and energy by avoiding inflation at all costs.
Let me take this moment to appreciate the Girl Think Initiative’s two dedicated field officers, Mr. Nguluwe (first from the left) and Mr. Milliward (second from the left) who are tirelessly bringing girls back to school. Your commitment to identifying vulnerable girls and supporting our volunteers, all while carrying out your assigned activities selflessly and without compensation, is truly inspiring. You are the kind of men our communities need. This is what real leadership looks like, leadership rooted in the community, carried out by people who understand the realities on the ground and take action where it matters most. God bless you, Mr. Nguluwe and Mr. Milliward, for the amazing work you do. We at Girl Think appreciate you deeply. image
Bitcoin is not just a revolution against traditional financial systems but it is one of the fascinating evolution in human history. So we are spreading awareness about Bitcoin and advocating for a free censorship and decentralized YakiHonne as a social media platform.
