A sliver of good news: SCOTUS just denied cert in a case asking them to overturn Obergefell.
Anyway, I'm pretty done with the Mastodon Homeowner's Association from two towns over coming to my door and telling me what color I'm allowed to paint my house.
Unrelatedly, I just encountered this surprisingly deep and nerdy dive into the history of the NATO (ICAO) phonetic (spelling) alphabet. Interesting lessons for usability and internationalization here. Testing matters!
@npub17yy3...3gvz They're called "private mentions" on my web client. And just today I read one that included my name that was DEFINITELY not intended for me.
I don't generally CW my posts about law and politics, because these are subjects that come up naturally for me, a central part of my day job. I put CWs on the rare posts I make that I anticipate might reasonably cause harm or distress. But I'm happy to help the people who insist that I post in a different way avoid seeing them. Blockety block block block.
"Are you so arrogant that you think your posts are worth reading?" Yes. Actually, I think that's a pretty good minimum threshold for anyone posting something.
For the record: I don't generally post pornographic material, gore, or subjects that I believe might reasonably cause harm or undue distress. And if I do, I would put them behind a CW. But I do post about a variety of topics that may not be of universal interest, such as US law and politics, geeky technology stuff, ponderous art, and so on. Undesired exposure to my posts on those subjects is one of the risks of of following me. Feel free to block or mute me if that scares you.
@npub1hyku...3p33 Are you settled in OK? Do you need any local assistance? (I'm not right near IAD, but I can be of any help, LMK)
Since my pointing this out seems to really bother certain people who'd prefer I not mention it, let me re-up this. View quoted note →
