Danantara is a new project to manage money from state-owned enterprises (SOEs). In the past, money from SOEs was used directly for state spending. Now, the money is not used directly, but invested. For example, if in 2025 SOEs get Rp300 trillion, Rp200 trillion of that will be invested by Danantara to make more money, maybe up to Rp1000 trillion. If it is profitable, the money can be returned to the country or invested again. The investment can be in stocks, property, or other large projects. This is different from Temasek in Singapore, because Danantara uses money from SOE dividends, while Temasek does not.
