#NarrativeMedicine is a discipline that makes the case for the importance of empathy, time listening, & "close reading" as doctors engage with patients. Their stories are as significant as bloodwork, PET images, & CATscans. What we are now seeing is a different kind of storytelling -- stories about money and care denial and suffering that creates and exacerbates illness.
