If someone closes their eyes and mind to escape the responsibility of making a moral judgment. If he evades the facts and struggles not to know, he is as black as
they come. There is only “black and white” with regard to morality, to persons, actions and principles of conduct, there is no gray. To have a just and good society where individual rights are not constantly violated, and worse, there is no justice for the good or the innocent, each person must accurately distinguish between what is good and what is evil.
The good cannot be based on moral relativism. Your
likes, prejudices, feelings, preferences, and whims of the moment. This requires a
rigorous integrity of oneself.
If people around you are doing evil and you choose not to see it, or give them a pass, it's going to come back on you. Virtue is not gauged as the number of values you are willing to betray in order not to be branded “judgmental”, or wrong or
evil.
An irrational society is a society of moral cowards who have self-censored themselves from making any moral judgments and believe that grayness is the
good, honorable, and right thing to do. They make a secret pact with each other, they think, “If I extend you this favor, and pretend not to see evil, and you extend me the same favor in return, we can get the best of both worlds.”
That is no code at all and it's leading to destruction. Morality is objective it is not subjective, it is
not relative. Just look at the state of so many people and communities, even in America. The drugs, crime, violence and moral relativism.
As a society collectively becomes more moral, each individual becomes freer, healthier, more prosperous and as a society becomes more immoral, they lose
their freedom and become more enslaved, more unfortunate, and more irrational.
Knowing the objective difference between right and wrong and willfully choosing right action over wrong action is the foundation for the manifestation of freedom.
This requires responsibility, thinking, energy, action and integrity within oneself. It requires a lot of work, but it is the only way to freedom.
