Interesting piece, I didn't realise Ricki Lee Jones attempted to sue. I'm a huge fan of the track, but I did wonder as a read along what the sex difference is in sampling? In my experience, it's a very male art form but thinking back over the years those who have made it big did so with a heavy use of female vocals, not often widely acknowledged or paid for. Of course it costs nothing to seek out the original artists these days and pay respects with a click but in the 1990s, this was a different matter.
