This is a pretty remarkable thing for a pro-Israeli hawk like Schumer to say. Source: @npub1aq2w...4nfw image
Jordan isn’t doing this to help the Palestinians. It’s doing this to help keep them out of Jordan. Again. Source: @npub1aq2w...4nfw image
I am in no way sympathetic to Israel’s tactics in Gaza. I think it’s a mistake. A tragic mistake. But I’ve lived through enough decades of this conflict to know that there have been many of those and there will be many more. Whether 30,000 people die in 6 weeks, 6 months 6 years or 6 decades, the dying will go on until both sides make some hard compromises needed for a sustainable two-state solution. They will never do that without global pressure on both sides to do that.
I realize it’s not popular to look at root causes, but if you go back a century or more when the Jews were more victims than abusers in Palestine (and a fractional minority), imagine how differently things might look when seen through the lens of what we’ve learned about anti-immigration movements in the present day. They are not pretty now. And they sure weren’t then.
Most of this poll erosion of Biden has little to do with the propaganda coming from Fox News and everything to do with the constant drumbeat of negativity coming from the left. It’s the revenge of Bernie Sanders at the worst possible time. Wake up folks. Trump is an existential threat.
Back when Twitter was created most of the tech people involved developed outsized reputations based simply on the fact that they were the people there that got the press. There’s been a great leveling since that time and they have many peers. Like with our politics, there are few dominant voices speaking with much clarity about where we go from here. That may be a good thing.
Reminder I don’t always repost things because I agree with them. But sometimes simply because they are respectfully voiced opinions, even if wrong, fitting into whatever narrative I’ve been discussing that day week or month.
Suppose for the purposes of discussion, Israel had not launched this terrible assault on Gaza. What do you think *should have been* their response after the October 7th assault on them? Please don’t be overly vague. The specific as you can be.
Brace yourself for the scotus ruling tomorrow, but don’t delude yourself. Even a lot of liberal legal observers thought the Colorado ballot case was sketchy at best. For two reasons. The case was poorly presented, but worse, it was poorly reasoned to begin with. Having 50 states decide who gets on the ballot is a recipe for complete chaos.
