Woohoo, woke up to a 30 minute soaker this morning. 1st rain of the season! Not much, but hasn't rained that much in over a yearπŸ€™
Tick tock next block. Finishing the upper wall after pouring the stairs last night. Their choice to be cooler than working midday. #homesteading #offgrid
Tick tock next block. Getting it done. Staircase and beginging the outer plastering while the new second floor cures...
So I had my largest Moringa tree chewed off a few inches above ground. I wasn't happy and just left the trunk there and just stuffed the trunk back into the ground. The stump is becoming a moringa bush and the trunk is aliiive. Now have new growth on the old trunk. Have to relocate, had no idea it would get roots, just left it there, quite the survivor. #permaculture #homesteading #gardening
Tick tock next block.. "Losa" (roof) has been poured and floated. Tomorrow theyll knock out the staicase and start plastering walls. Then next week compact and pour the floor.
Tick tock next block... 3rd week and they begin to shore up forms for pouring ceiling/2nd floor.

Pretty cool beach structure that I saw the other day. The material is Palo del Arco commonly grown and used for shades, fences, pergolas, wind blocks and actual structure for mud and wattle style homes. You can see the architect's home in the background, obviously he likes anglesπŸ˜‰
Went to an earth block home yesterday. Not only are all the bricks block but that is an earth block tile roof! My current contractor owns the hime as well as the block machine. Plan to build with a mix of rammed earth and compressed earth block homes, using all ranch materials except for the lime added. Still need to use concrete for structure (white beams and columns) and cap on walls but much, much less. The wood beams will be a bit expensive but the rest is mostly labor. #homesteading #permaculture #rammedearth
