I grew up close enough to San Francisco that it was simply known as The City. And in the late 2000s, I worked full-time at an online publishing company in SoMa. Commuted there by bus all the way from the North Bay for two years. I'm feeling pretty emotional about how much it sucks to be without power the Saturday before Christmas…but most importantly, how thoroughly unacceptable and frustrating it is for damn autonomous vehicles to be *fucking blocking public transit*. 🤬 Stay safe y'all. 🙏
Trying to think of concepts for a Year-in-Review blog post that doesn't mostly boil down to *cue Charlton Heston voice* Damn you! God damn you all to hell! 😅
“OK fine, gosh, we’ll release the damn Epstein Files.” The files. (And it’s only a few of the files! 🙃) image
Any brogrammer who tells you a particular practice is good because now you're “shipping faster” can be immediately ignored. Look for the people who are talking about the importance of slowing down. Trend-seeking grifters go out there and promote “faster”. Real craftspeople promote the time-honored wisdom of “measure twice, cut once.” Because today’s “faster” is tomorrow’s toxic swamp. Every good programmer knows this to be true. Slow down! 🚦🛑
“Yeah well many of the Impressionists’ contemporaries hated Impressionism, and look how that went.” Ha ha, well the joke's on you! I too side with the classical artists in that debate much of the time and fully agree with their critiques. Seriously, the way people dismiss out of hand a past debate over cultural developments like it's “settled” …no, it is not. Debates rarely settle! And past eras often arise once more (including modern-day realist classical-style art…look it up!).
