Hey, friends and neighbors, I’ve got a hashtag I’d like to suggest for the month to come: #FANuary. What it is: an opportunity to spotlight people/accounts here on Mastodon (or the larger fediverse) who make your experience here a little better. Think of it as a month-long Follow Friday celebration. It’s a way we can boost others and make our timelines just a bit more positive. Are you in? #FANuary
One of the admittedly few things that gripes me about some fedi users is the absolutely astonishing level of entitlement in demanding *others* limit or CW/hashtag what they post because those users can’t handle certain stuff. Deliberately navigating to a social media app and then complaining about what is “forced into” one’s eyes… that logic escapes me. Nobody forced you to open that app and scroll. Nobody else is responsible for what you see on the internet. “But they didn’t use hashtags/CW!” Too bad. People may *choose* to use those things, and it’s really cool that so many here do, but they don’t have to. Holy shit, people, act like grownups and be responsible for your own internet consumption.
Farewell to Jimmy Carter, the most decent man to ever hold the office of US President. May his legacy never fade.

Here in Alabama, if you listen closely, you can tell we actually say “Merry Gritsmas.”
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all my accounts Were heavily burdened and checks may have bounced The kids didn’t know and the wife didn’t care That I made this month’s mortgage by barely a hair The game consoles, headphones, and spa days and rings Will probably all be forgotten by spring So if anyone bitches about presents this year I swear I’ll exchange them for good weed & beer

Billionaires will piss on your leg and call it trickle-down economics.
“I’m definitely eating healthier this holiday season,” I exclaim just before I shotgun 1,700 calories of eggnog.
Mastodon is my favorite place to find locally sourced, ethically harvested, renewable, hand-curated, small batch disdain.
