It’s been over a year with these macOS pop-ups and I still have any idea why an app is asking, what should I say, what is the penalty for choosing Don’t Allow, etc. What a frustrating experience. (Edit: I’m showing Chrome here but I am getting them for so many other apps without seemingly any rhyme or reason.) image

This is good writing.
A few people reminded me recently how ten years ago I translated into English a short (sci-fi-ish) 1976 story from my favourite writer, Stanisław Lem. Lem’s stuff continues to be wildly prescient, and I feel like that story has even more relevance today than it did in 2015. I just moved the story from Medium to my site for a nicer reading experience, if you want to give it a shot!
I wrote something new! It’s a UI design history essay about Mac’s Control Panel, and it uses emulation in some… maybe new and maybe interesting ways?
