I built this tool to help me visualize blocks that will be made into physical art works.
View on as big a screen as possible for best detail.
Hit the arrow on the side to turn it into a live display without the info bars.

tip: turn off "live block stream" if you don't want the block to refresh as your exploring.

Drawing Bitcoin
One of the first challenges of this project was to understand and establish a scale for drawing blocks. I wanted to represent them at a scale and detail with high resolution that allowed them to be unique and comparable.
I wanted to express each transaction within a block and log scale emerged as one of the only ways to draw data with such wide ranges without too much abstraction.
Re-sized 1 btc to 150mm
this works nicely for now for the first 1,000,000 blocks at a 700 x 700 canvas size
First drawing captures the first 4 halving blocks as a comparative study;
210000 - 2012.11.28
420000 - 2016.07.09
630000 - 2020.05.11
840000 β 2024.02.20
The drawing shows an expected pull of transactions towards the centre as the mining reward decreases and the btc price surges.
Second drawing shows the mining reward as a layer on top showing the relationship between transaction ranges and reward.
