Okay this might be a stupid question, but say I run Apache on my HP-UX machine to server a basic website. Can I then somehow tell Apache to use a specific Ethernet port, keeping all other traffic to another port?
I hope my PCIe NVME adapters arrive before Christmas. I bought them for one of my dual POWER9 workstations - it's been collecting dust for a while but I want to set it up again. Going to try FreeBSD, and hope that it supports the AMD Radeon Pro w5500 I bought for it.
It's going to be a modern-ish UNIX workstation.

Just sent a heartfelt plea to someone high-up at HPE to do something - *something* - about the preservation status of HP-UX, its patches and updates, and its software. HP-UX's definitive end-of-life is at the end of this month. Y'all have no idea how much of HP-UX has already vanished.
I have very little faith this will lead to anything, but at least I tried.
While the UK has a million problems, the right-wing talking point over "arrests for social media posts" is entirely fake, made up, and 100% bullshit. The reality is that the number of people convicted for online posts in the UK has declined sharply since 2015 - from about 2000 then to less than 1100 in 2025. Of note is that only about 10% of those received any prison time, and the majority of those were less than two months long.
And no, those convictions weren't over shitpost, but posts inciting actual violence, calling for murder, abuse and God knows what else - like right-wingers calling for burning down asylum centers or killing non-white children.
So, if you see right-wing lunatics ejaculating over social media posts arrests in the UK - it's bullshit. None of it is true.
After I'm done writing about the HP c8000, anyone interested in a similar UNIX workstation writeup about my dual POWER9 machine? I've been itching to set it up as a FreeBSD machine for that real UNIX workstation feel.
And no, x86 workstations are not UNIX workstations. They just aren't. I don't make the rules.
I love it when right-wing extremists claim the EU is trash compared to the US. Here's some numbers.
- Homicide rate in US is 5 times as high as in the EU.
- Traffic death rate in the US is 30 times as high as in the EU.
- Poverty rates are higher in the US than in the EU.
- Life expectancy in the US is several years shorter than in the EU.
- Medical bankruptcy is effectively a US-only phenomenon, and extremely common there.
- Health outcomes in the US are trash compared to the EU.
- Number of overdose deaths in the US is substantially higher than in the EU.
- Americans are far less happy than Europeans.
And this is just a small selection. The US is a third-world country with a small number of ultra-wealthy individuals tricking dumb fucks that they're better off than the rest of the world.
