If something has a lot of very bad externalities, and just the ones we know about cause major damage to important physical, social and informational ecosystems, then “lots of people want it” just… isn’t a compelling argument.
This is that oddball 4th gen iPod touch with no rear camera.
It’s last update was iOS 9.3.5, so it’s missing a few of that platform more recent conveniences, but it’s still one of my pieces of mobile computing ever made.
It’s so small.
I was biking up Broadview this week when I saw a guy carrying a great stick, so I pulled up and said hey man, that’s a great stick! And he said “right!?” So I told him to have a great day and he said “I am!” and held his stick aloft triumphantly. Anyway, I think we need more of that in the world and I hope he enjoyed the rest of his day as much as I enjoyed that moment. You’ve gotta have room for joy in your life, and sometimes that means you’ve gotta make room for joy in your life.
