What was your Bitcoin moment? When I first got into Bitcoin, I didn’t really understand it, I just thought it was a cool idea. I first invested in Bitcoin and other “cryptocurrencies” in 2021, when prices were on the rise. During this time I began learning about Bitcoin. In 2022, when the price of Bitcoin and “cryptocurrencies” crashed, I noticed that I had an urge to sell the “cryptocurrencies” I was holding at the time, but not Bitcoin. So I explored why I felt this way. I realized that the reason I felt safe holding Bitcoin is because of its decentralization. Even though its price was much lower, the network was ultimately the same and I trusted it would continue to grow, still do. When it comes to the existing money, governance, etc. there is a lack of trust. Bitcoin’s properties/qualities (decentralization, immutability, transparency, scarcity, etc.) provide us with a tool to restore trust in society. What was your Bitcoin moment? I’ve heard a lot of people say that Bitcoin will replace the existing monetary system, but this will take a long time (decades) to happen. I disagree. When it becomes clear that something works better people catch on pretty quickly, especially in the internet era where information can reach everyone in a matter of seconds. The existing monetary system is not strong. It is backed by nothing but trust, which has been lost. Once Bitcoin appreciates against fiat currencies to a certain level I expect adoption to happen suddenly. It will become clear what is happening. Bitcoin is the monetary system and a trust-less base layer with utility that we are yet to discover. #bitcoin #money #trust
