At least 14 journalists and media workers were detained in Caracas while covering Delcy Rodríguez's inauguration. CPJ says security officials searched the kit, forced reporters to unlock phones, and checked messages and social apps. That is intimidation, not public safety.
When did reporting become a threat?

Just what gamers don’t want right now: Razer’s Project AVA, an AI desk companion that can literally look at your screen and “help” you play. 😬
Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t want a camera powered hologram coach hovering over my games, or my life.
It also feels like the whole AI arms race is a big part of why GPUs, consoles, and PC parts keep getting pushed into “luxury hobby” pricing. Everyone’s chasing the next monetisable layer, and privacy is the collateral.
Here’s the short:
What do you reckon, useful tool or dystopian desk pet?

CPJ is urging Tunisia to immediately and unconditionally release jailed journalist Chadha Hadj Mbarek, and to ensure she gets urgent, specialist medical care.
Reports say her health has seriously deteriorated in detention, including alleged medical neglect after an assault in prison, and later findings of a malignant tumour that needs surgery. Her next appeal hearing is listed for 9 January 2026.

ARTICLE 19 has put out a strong statement on what's happening in Venezuela: condemning the US military attack and the capture of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, and warning that it undermines international law and Venezuelans' right to self-determination.
Whatever you think of Maduro, Venezuela's democratic future belongs to Venezuelans, not foreign power plays. A real transition means protecting journalists and activists, freeing political prisoners, and pursuing proper accountability for serious human rights abuses.

2026: the playbook gets worse, and 2025 basically gave us the blueprint.
It's the same pattern every time: "think of the children", "fight scams", "keep people safe"… then you get age gates that quietly turn into Identity gates, more data hoovering, more permission creep, and more pressure to treat surveillance as normal.
If you want a calmer 2026, we need to build and use tools that don't require permission to exist: open protocols, self-hosted services, local-first habits, and communities that can't be turned off by one policy change.

What are you tightening up this year: your devices, your accounts, your comms, or your online Identity?

The USA is drifting towards an "everything is tracked" model, and it rarely arrives as one big obvious law. It shows up through Identity checks, financial reporting rules, data brokers, and "safety" policies that quietly widen over time.
This video is a solid prompt to zoom out and ask: what gets normalised next, and what do we do about it?

Could Canada ever become the 51st US state, or is this just political theatre dressed up as destiny? Coin Bureau Finance dug into the incentives, the legal reality, and why sovereignty still matters when big players start talking annexation.

This isn't justice, it's a gut punch. When a case involving child abuse material ends in a suspended sentence, while people can still end up jailed over online communications offences, it makes the whole system feel upside down.
We need proportionality and sentences that actually reflect harm. Children should be the absolute priority, every time.

Did Trump just TRIPLE America's Bitcoin reserve?! That's the claim, and it's exactly the sort of headline that needs a Calm, receipts-first breakdown.
I just dropped a new video where I go through what's being said, what's actually confirmed, and what it could mean if governments start stacking sats in public. Are we watching a real policy shift, or just narrative games?

Singapore friends: here's a solid explainer on buying and selling Bitcoin legally in Singapore 👇
Quick sanity checklist:
Use a properly licensed platform (MAS regulates Digital Payment Token services under the Payment Services Act).
Expect Identity checks. If a platform promises "no ID", that's a red flag.
Start with small test transfers, then move long-term holdings to a wallet you control.
Keep tidy records in case you ever need to prove the source of funds.
Watch it, then tell me what part still feels confusing.
