Right now I'm thinking about Noodler's American Eel or Heart of Darkness.
I like Platinum Carbon Black, but it's a little spendy, and it's recommended to dedicate a pen to it.

I'm trying to identify a book I read years ago, called THE FAMILY.
I don't remember who it was by, but I'm pretty sure it was a woman, and from the prose I'd think it was written between 1940 and 1960.
The book follows generations of an Iowa family as they go from rural IA to the quad cities, to spread out...
There's no real plot per se, but it stuck with me. Kind of an American Midwest THE GOOD EARTH
