there is a wide spread sentiment of purity that an artist's vision should never be changed because it will always be diminished. meanwhile most books and films we hold for dear were created with the input of editors, publishers, producers and other professionals who identified problems early and understood the parts that work, creating that polished gem we ascribe to one person and their singular vision. a great work of art is still work and it's usually better done by a team.
