I just told a room full of newsroom execs and investigative journalists, hopefully coherently, to always start with human problems, do not add AI to their workflows uncritically, and to build and use technology according to their values, with a duty of care for their communities. Privileged to do so and grateful for the opportunity.

This is obvious, but if people broadly rely on a black box to give them answers that help them understand the world, whoever controls the black box controls those answers and therefore the understanding that comes from them. Openness is safety.
