mpls ICE resistance
I spent most of the afternoon at Portland and 33rd today. There were a bunch of people there, and a lot of energy to do something, but perhaps a lack of clarity about what that something should be. I joined a group shoveling and scraping literal ice off the street and sidewalk in order to make the area safer and more accessible, showing that the writers have not learned subtlety in 2026. People have been donating firewood, water, and other supplies, including someone who brought around some delicious sambusas.
The only notable incident I witnessed was when someone from the neighborhood got upset and walked off with a pallet that had been used to build the barricade. It sounds like he was carrying some fear from 2020 and also upset from events in his personal life. The reason I have any idea about his state of mind is because one of the people shoveling followed after him, talked to him, and got back the pallet.
