The π΄ banking omnishambles in Thailand gets worse.
Police promise to unlock accounts in 12 hours if they can provide, and I quote:
He explained that relevant agencies would review the flagged transactions, after which innocent account holders could prove their identity through four details: full name, ID card number, bank account number, and the bankβs name.
In what universal reality is that even relevant to anything? How could a bank account be opened without that information to begin with? Legacy accounts? Why not just target them instead of third parties?
Previously the Bank of Thailand said they would unlock accounts in four hours by calling the 144 hotline.
Who is in charge here? Obviously not the commercial banks but is it the central bank or the police?
Welcome to Thailand where the need to be seen to be doing something outweighs the need to do something.
