The usual Conference Chats reminder: our October call starts in three and a half hours. No experience necessary, anyone interested in community organizer is welcome, folks from communities outside of our tech / open source bubble very much encouraged to join. Invite link at .
Why have so many YouTube videos adopted the editing style of a series of Old Spice ads? Do people actually want a different filming environment for every sentence of a 10-minute video? (I am aware that the Old Spice ads were not a series of jump cuts, but this feels like the closest reference point for this video format.)
We have a handful of open source communities well-represented at , and I would love to see the group expand beyond the tech sector. This group becomes a better resource for everyone as it becomes more of a cross-community meeting space. If you're a conference /community organizer for a group that is not specific to the tech world, we'd love to have you there. If you have questions about the group, I am happy to answer them, and I'm sure many other people are, too.
I have been less online than normal this past week, so a bit late to posting this: our first Conference Chats call for the month of September is about 20 hours away. See details and a link to join the Discord server at .
I'm putting together some feedback regarding the issues I've seen and been told about regarding registering as a PSF member at . If you've attempted to register as a PSF member (of any membership tier), have had trouble doing so for whatever reason, and are willing to share your experience, please PM me. My goal with this post is to remove barriers to entry, especially for membership tiers with voting privileges, and having more anecdotes will help me craft a better post.
@npub1vv84...6fhk Is there an issue tracker / place to contribute to ? In particular, I heard from multiple people this last election cycle that they gave up trying to enroll as a managing / contributing member because they were unable to find the proper links and information (that mostly exist at ), and I'd like to help remove this barrier.
I've watched a string of (not enjoyably) bad horror movies recently. Any recent or lesser-known releases I should check out?
It is a "pour a cup of coffee, wonder why the coffee pot is so light, come back to your desk to find a full cup of coffee there already" type of day.
