I did the trendy thing of buying rollerblade wheels for my office chair that was already too tall for me even at its lowest setting. I've finally replaced them with a lower-profile (even lower-profile than the original hard plastic wheels) polyurethane set, and I notice an immediate improvement. Not perfect, but definitely better.
