In just a couple of weeks, regressive assholes have somehow managed to reignite an 'abortion debate’, here in the Netherlands, to the point where my newspaper of choice is writing an editorial with the headline “Motions that question abortion rights are the first step towards limiting autonomy in women's rights”, after the three of them were voted on yesterday, Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The worst one, which would have required registration of the pregnant person's 'motivation’ for wanting an abortion, did not pass, but the two others did. This is how quickly it moves 😒 #OrganisedAffiliatedFuckers #NLpol
While we're talking about ripping shit out, have you lot started phasing out Gravatar yet? Mullenweg hasn't stopped being an arse, even though the bigger assholes are drawing all of the attention. #RipItOut
The first Spice Girls single, ‘Wannabe’, was released closer to the coronation of the last shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, than to today.
Meanwhile, for the love of everything, if you are in Germany and able to vote, please go out and do so.
If you needed another reason why you should never point software directly at S3 buckets for updates and the like, here it is; "Here’s a supply-chain attack just waiting to happen. A group of researchers searched for, and then registered, abandoned Amazon S3 buckets for about $400. These buckets contained software libraries that are still used. Presumably the projects don’t realize that they have been abandoned, and still ping them for patches, updates, and etc.” Plus unsigned binaries, VM images, Javascript, VPN configurations, and so forth. I strongly dislike the fact that we now basically have to reevaluate all domains under management, and the infrastructure that depends on the associated DNS records, in light of this new insider threat from an asshole with a sharpie. Especially given how eager US tech companies are to comply with whatever these fuckers come up with next.
A reminder for everyone who is trying to kick a YouTube habit that a creator-owned service like Nebula is totally a thing, and might actually have some of your favourites. Like Bernadette Banner, for example; Practical Engineering; LegalEagle; And many others;
“A 404 Media reader has reformatted the Simple Sabotage Field Manual to be more legible as a PDF and shared it with us, so we’re going to share it with you.” Something to keep a local copy of.

If you are responsible for tech security for a North American company, and you aren't going to pay protection money to the Trump Empire, I want to see a detailed explanation from you, listing all the ways in which you are protecting your users from this fascist regime. Along with a commitment to the values you have espoused in the past, using plain language that leaves no doubt as to where you stand. Time to pick a side, folks. There is no neutral, and not picking one is the same as siding with this new status quo, a tacit endorsement of all the actions this US administration is taking. Show us your colours now that it matters 🏳️‍🌈
