What has always concerned me about Tiktok is how incredibly passive its users have to be to be seduced into making endless swipes through bottomless pits of ephemeral content posited as art or information. Have you ever watched someone doing it? It’s like they’re in a trance. image

Jordan isn’t doing this to help the Palestinians. It’s doing this to help keep them out of Jordan. Again. Source: @npub1aq2w...4nfw image
I am in no way sympathetic to Israel’s tactics in Gaza. I think it’s a mistake. A tragic mistake. But I’ve lived through enough decades of this conflict to know that there have been many of those and there will be many more. Whether 30,000 people die in 6 weeks, 6 months 6 years or 6 decades, the dying will go on until both sides make some hard compromises needed for a sustainable two-state solution. They will never do that without global pressure on both sides to do that.
I realize it’s not popular to look at root causes, but if you go back a century or more when the Jews were more victims than abusers in Palestine (and a fractional minority), imagine how differently things might look when seen through the lens of what we’ve learned about anti-immigration movements in the present day. They are not pretty now. And they sure weren’t then.
