FreeCAD Version 1.0 Released After more than twenty years of intense and sustained development, the FreeCAD community is proud to announce the release of version 1.0. FreeCAD 1.0 is now available for download on all platforms. In software development, version 1 usually means: our software is now stable and ready for "real work". New grants: VarSets, Mediawiki, artwork guidelines and icons The FPA General Assembly approved three new grant applications. Pieter Hijma will work on improving the user experience of VarSets. The work will include guiding the discussion on the more complicated topics, adding new features that are requested from users, and improving on various small issues. The work is scheduled to #Grants
FreeCAD 1.0 Release Candidate 4 is out We've just released the fourth v1.0 release candidate, you can download it on GitHub. There was no official announcement of RC3 yesterday because we discovered a regression immediately after releasing the builds. Currently, we are down to just one release blocker that is a macOS-specific UI issue. We'll wait another week to see if there are any new blockers pre #Releases
Tutorial: Sketcher Offset Geometry Tool In the version 1.0 release candidates and the upcoming version 1.0 a new β€œOffset Geometry” tool can be spotted on the sketcher workbench. Let’s have a look at how this tool can be used to help create sketch geometry more efficiently. In a new sketch we used the Polyline tool to create this simple β€œA” shape with an arc at the top.
