🇬🇧 House of Lords to debate UK crypto regulations today The House of Lords will today debate the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Cryptoassets) Regulations 2025 in Grand Committee, marking another key step in the UK’s proposed crypto regime. The statutory instrument, published by HM Treasury in December, was first debated last week in the Commons, where Economic Secretary Lucy Rigby set out the Government’s rationale for bringing crypto activities fully within the FSMA framework. ----- BBA is the Secretariat of the APPG on Blockchain Technologies.

🇬🇧 Ministers Confirm Reporting Rules for Crypto Political Donations 🎤 Conservative Party Chair Kevin Hollinrake MP has raised questions in Parliament on how cryptocurrency political donations should be reported. 🎤 In response, Sir Jeremy Wright confirmed that, in line with guidance from HM Revenue & Customs and the Financial Conduct Authority, crypto donations are treated as non-monetary donations and must disclose the type and amount of cryptoasset. He added that The Electoral Commission will shortly publish updated guidance for parties and candidates on reporting and valuing cryptoasset donations. ------ The BBA is the UK's industry body on Blockchain and Digital Assets, and the Secretariat of the APPG on Blockchain Technologies. #Crypto #Blockchain
