According to the Oxfam inequality report, this is where we stand as women in Kenya: -We earn 35% less than men β€” women earn only 65 cents for every shilling a man earns. -Only 13% of us legally own agricultural land, and among the poorest families, this drops to just 4%. -We are 5 times more likely to engage in unpaid care work, limiting our opportunities for paid employment and economic independence.
In last week's meeting, we dove into forming a β€˜Sacco’ to secure a future where our children never lack and to also grow as a community. Together we are saving today to secure their tomorrow. image
Empowering mothers is the first step toward creating stronger, more hopeful futures for the next generations. When mothers acquire knowledge, financial literacy, and confidence, their children grow up with better opportunities and security. This spirit of empowerment is reflected in the inspiring story of children with disabilities learning on a mobile STEM bus β€” demonstrating that opportunity, innovation, and inclusion can be accessible to everyone, everywhere. Through technology, education, or Bitcoin, we are working toward a future where every mother and child can succeed. Our book, The Sovereign Mother, is here to support new mothers in planning a secure and bright future for their babies from birth. You can order a copy online or donate one to a mother. What a vibe! 🧑 We had such a productive day with the merchants from our circular economy. It’s truly inspiring to see how willing and eager everyone is to learn more about #Bitcoin. Big thanks to our guest speaker Ronnie from @AfribitKibera for joining us! And as promised, we made sure nobody went home empty-handed. ⚑️ Check out: #Spedn #CircularEconomy
Tomorrow, we're delighted to host a special merchant meetup celebrating our 15 amazing merchants who have been with us since the beginning. We can't wait to see everyone there! And of course, we have some goodies to share. image
Did you know that fewer babies are being born these days? The *global fertility rate* is now **2.25 children per woman**, down 6.2% since 2019. In some places β€” like South Korea β€” it dropped to just **0.73.** For Bitcoin Babies, this makes our mission even more powerful: helping mothers invest in their children’s future β€” no matter how small the family size or the effort invested.
Generational wealth isn't just about the inheritance you leave behind; it's about the biology you pass on. Biology adapts to poverty and stress, passing on disadvantage at the cellular level. At Bitcoin Babies, we’re breaking that chain in Kenya. We’re using the hardest money on earth to build the strongest kids on earth. Be part of their story.⚑️ Consider a donation: image
Yesterday we went for a swim, grabbed some lunch, and even stopped by the Bitcoin Hardware shop to drop off our book!
Unjustified C-sections are rising across Africa β€” often done for convenience or profit, not medical need. @WHO says only 10–15 of births should require one. Every woman deserves safe, respectful, informed birth care β€” not unnecessary surgery Watch:
