On the feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple, in 1692, the monks of Brazi Monastery were celebrating with vespers, singing, and the all-night vigil. Suddenly, Turkish and Tatar troops surrounded the monastery, stormed the church, and began to desecrate the holy place. Theodosie, a humble monk, saw the invaders about to set fire to the holy altar. In his burning zeal, he ran and stood before them, crying out, "Do not defile the house of God!" The savage ones fell upon him and cut off his head, offering him as a sacrifice to Christ in the very altar he sought to defend.
Holy Martyr Theodosie, intercede with Christ our God that we may have such zeal for His Holy Church! #Martyr #OrthodoxChristian #BraziMonastery #HolyTheodosie #Intercede
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him, all things were made; without Him, nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Let us worship Him. #JesusChrist #GodIsGood #Bible #Faith #Worship"
