Today in Labor History October 16, 1859: Abolitionist John Brown led his famous raid on the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry in order to obtain weapons to defeat the forces of slavery. The raid failed and Brown was executed. Brown was an Evangelical Christian who believed he was "an instrument of God", raised to strike the "death blow" to American slavery. #workingclass #LaborHistory #slavery #abolition #johnbrown #deathpenalty #slavery #directaction #BlackMastadon image

Pretty disgusting and disturbing, feds associating No Kings, really mainstream activism, with Hamas and terrorism. Shows just how scared they are, how tenuous their hold actually is.
Boston Prosecutors Invoke anti-anarchist Law to Charge pro-palestinian Protesters, "an indication that Boston’s mayor and Police Department are telegraphing to President Trump that they’re going to come down hard on civil unrest." To many on the left, this might seem shocking, particularly when they read the news about the "good" libs in California, like Newsom, and in Illinois, like Pritzker and Johnson, resisting Trump's gestapo and federalized National Guards. But another way to read this is that the entirely of the ruling class, incl their politicians on both the "left" and right, are terrified right now of the 99%, or even just a tiny subset of the working-class, rising up against them, and that actions like those against protesters in Boston are meant to scare and deter us from resisting. Why should they be so scared? Consider that the gap between the rich and the poor right now is worse than during the Gilded Age. Some say it's worse than it was in France in the time leading up to the French Revolution. Prices are so high, wages so low, jobs so scarce, healthcare about to become out of reach for millions, electricity prices out the roof because of AI data farms. And close to 50% of all economic activity right now due to the spending of the richest 10%. A lot of that investments into AI, which will drive up electricity costs even further. #freespeech #fascism #policestate #boston #anarchism #freepalestine #solidarity
Divide and conquer by the rich, the bosses and landlords, and their politician lackeys. They pit us against each other to reduce our ability to resist, organize, fight back. And it's not just MAGA and Republicans. It's many of the libs and Dems, too. Consider Dem POTUS front runner Gavin Newsom, continuing to throw trans folks, people with disabilities and the unhoused under the bus. Consider Boston mayor and MA governor supporting charges of anarchist terrorism against pro-Palestinian protesters. image
Leaked chat by Young Republicans from across the U.S. reveals their true fascist colors. Filled with adoration of Hitler and vile racist slurs against African-Americans and Jews, calls for the gas chamber and rape, Is this the "wonderful" legacy of Charlie Kirk, the guy Trump just awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom? https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/14/private-chat-among-young-gop-club-members-00592146?fbclid=IwY2xjawNciWNleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHhs1RwG02jrH-wwDB5w4ytxzu-3IeaW5PjkNeChUm86yIZijBDDkls47QjQK_aem_CVqj7wv2V8yZCYDBTr5DCg image

Today in Labor History October 15, 2005: A neo-Nazi group, under police escort, tried to march through an African-American neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio. Anti-fascists, including members of International Socialist Organization, local anarchist organizations, and Anti-Racist Action groups from other cities, battled both the cops and Nazis, driving the latter from town. For more on the history of antifascist organizing in the U.S. read “We Go Where They Go: The Story of Anti-Racist Action,” (2023), by Kristin Schwartz, Michael Staudenmaier, Shannon Clay, et al. and “No Fascist USA!” by Hilary Moore and James Tracy (2020), about the John Brown Anti-Klan Committee. #workingclass #LaborHistory #nazi #fascism #toledo #racism #anarchism #socialism #books #antifascism #antifa #johnbrown #directaction #Mutualaid #author #writer #nonfiction [@bookstadon]( ) image
