I was fussed at yesterday for not putting a CW on my post about the inauguration nazi salute - while the inauguration frivolities were still happening and while everyone was beginning to talk about that particular moment.
Ladies and germs, I will not CW takes on a national event while itβs happening, and while our entire citizenry are discussing it.
If an individual cannot bear such commentary, it is their responsibility to protect themselves from it. last I checked, being on social media is still voluntary. And asking an entire population (even on a smaller platform like Mastodon) to keep it to themselves is simply too much.
I will continue to CW when I believe what Iβm sharing could cause harm, but I will not have someone shake a finger at me for participating in the national discourse - or for that matter, for discussing other topics the vast majority of the population finds completely acceptable and even banal.
