hey! it's me Vanta Rainbow Black, fedi's favorite cyberpunk catgirl instance admin. i'm here to ask for your help crowdfunding a new laptop for myself because my current one is really shitty and old. PAINFULLY old. january 2017 old. and so, so shitty. i literally cannot even stream video on discord or make music in ableton live with it that's how fuckin shitty we're talking. it freezes up a lot when i'm trying to edit videos AND I'M A VIDEO EDITOR. in linux shit constantly crashes due to a lack of available memory. i can barely wikiwalk because having too many tabs open fucks shit up. it's just a BAD experience all around
but it's more than just those issues. i rely on my laptop for a lot. it's my main method of interfacing with the world really. i do everything from video editing to writing to making music to gamedev and everything over under or in-between. and i just... cannot goddamn stand this anymore. it pisses me off so much. but i've realized the power to possibly change things is in my hands maybe. it's at least potentially doable
so i'm asking for $1200 to buy a used gaming laptop off of craigslist or something. why a gaming laptop? i'm purposefully shooting for overkill so i don't have to worry about upgrading again for a good long while
