"This absurdity is the result of government regulations on safety and fuel economy. Every year the trucks have to get bigger in order to remain compliant with CAFE standards. We could have even smaller trucks from Japan but no no no. Those are dangerous. You might hurt yourself. They are too small for American roads. The roads have to be made bigger to accommodate the bigger cars. Widening roads isn't free. That has to be paid for with increased taxation. Yay, more taxation."
