It’s so annoying that they basically hand out IP addresses if you want them, but if you want your own TLD in DNS it’s gonna cost you like a million+ bucks.
ICANN is a shitty company anyways, between removing their price cap on .org domains to sell it to private equity, and giving the .amazon TLD to Amazon the company after 7 years of dispute, instead of Amazon *the region that makes up half of South America.*
So I wouldn’t want to give them a dime anyways, but weren’t there any DNS nerds in the 80s & 90s who could’ve stopped this corporate nonsense?
