#Kneecap news: according to the band themselves, they've been told that their set will not be streamed live but will be available on demand (presumably with some politically inappropriate words cut out) this evening.
I don't know what time this evening, and finding recorded sets on the iplayer during the festival is a challenge at the best of times.
But everyone, do please watch it when you can. I know that most of the people posting about Kneecap here will have no interest in enjoying the actual music, it's just a political point to make.
However, the only reason their political stances have made any headlines at all is because they're popular. And the only reason they're popular is that they are very good at what they do. It would be a great shame if everyone just focused on using them as a political football without paying attention to the tremendously entertaining music that Kneecap make.
Anyway, in about a quarter of an hour, BBC will be streaming Bob Vylan from the West Holts stage without controversy, and they're very good too, so watch that.

Sly Stone on Monday and now Brian Wilson. Oh heavens. Two of the most innovative and thrilling composers of the twentieth century. Two whose work will be cited and heard and performed as long as humans are around to listen to it.
Brian had been in very poor health for some time. I had a chance to go and watch him in Newcastle the last time he was touring; I didn't go, and honestly, I'm glad. He was not in a state to be touring by then. Sadly, he spent his entire life being forced to wring more and more out of his genius, instead of being allowed to take care of himself.
But heavens, what a light has now gone out.
