Why won't the people rise up?You ask. Because humanity as a species has evolved past the need for mere 'bread and circuses' to control populations. It is far more effective to promote self-destructive escapism as a means to diffuse tension created from assaults. This is disturbingly effective because the very people who recognize what's wrong are the most affected. Self-respect is the most valuable asset one can have in the face of this, and we should nurture it in others.
