Were I an evil overlord, I would use public money to fund an information technology that gatekeeps knowledge while promoting manipulative information as the ultimate appeal to expert authority. I'd call it “artificial intelligence” and pay young, brilliant dupes to engineer it through a series of compartmentalized projects that keep them from understanding the post-industrial scale con. I'd pay influencers to have all the wrong conversations about it.
