image Let me explain GenX as simply as possible. In the 70s the Boomers invented Yard Darts, and proceeded to cause massive injuries to each other in their 20-30s at BBQs and such. Many of them ended up in the ER due to being impaled. So the Boomers and their Silent Generation parents outlawed them due to so many injuries. This left a ton of Boomers with Yard Darts they didn't really want anymore and with no real market for them. So in the early 80s they had garage sales and sold them to kids that were say 8-14 years old for about 2 bucks a set. Those were GenX kids. We went out and bought them, made up a lot of more dangerous games with them. We played chicken with them, had distance competitions with them with our friends down range etc. No one checked on us and yet we took less, far less trips to the ER then our Boomer parents. I can't think of a better way to explain GenX than this, can you? We played with flying death machines that fucked up so many of our parents that they got rid of them and yet we seldom needed medical attention. Now many of us may have "rubbed dirt" on some puncture wounds, but we never even told an adult that it happened. Getting in trouble for getting hurt was considered worse than just getting hurt. Oh yea and one more thing, realizing that they were "not really that sharp" we sharpened them on rocks to remedy that. πŸ˜‚
