On the other hand, millions of people who are concerned about inequality, poor jobs, failing public services and poor housing have wholly appropriate grievances in the UK. Tackle those, and the opportunity for racists would disappear.

The choice is for Labour to make, but so far it is sending out the message that it intends to promote inequality. Are they really surprised people are angry as a result? They have to change tack.

Why is it that those talking about the national debt do not seem to know this stuff?
