What's a modern solution to β€œI have an #RSS feed that has content that is malformed, and I want to transform the content of the feed and subscribe to the fixed feed instead of the original”? My inclination had been "yahoo pipes” (RIP) and I saw pipes.digital, but I couldn't get that to work. I'm happy to be #selfhosting this; in fact, I'd probably prefer it, but online solutions are acceptable too.
Chrome really has poisoned the well for me; every time it updates now, I wonder "what feature do I need to find and turn off in the hopes that Google won't be abusing my privacy in new, exciting, and misleadingly-named ways?” No, Safari isn't an option, nor is Firefox; neither meets my usability bar. Don't recommend them to me. No, Vivaldi and Edge and Arc aren’t, either, for the same reasons. I've tried them.
(I am aware that my being part of a language-based tech community makes this seem hypocritical) I am so, so tired of people introducing themselves in social situations with a catalog of technologies they love or hate. YOU ARE NOT YOUR TOOLS
Sometimes the /r/git subreddit has questions on it that make me wonder how people even operate their computers in the first place.
I'm looking for a group to watch the first hour or so of the #debate with in #seattle, up in Greenwood (I'm heading to a 7:30 trivia game but wanted to see how the winds were blowing for the first hour); I'd rather not watch alone, since wincing and heckling in a group is more fun. Anyone know a place that's showing it?
Is cookiecutter still the #python template state of the art?
One thing I hope is taken away from the #Glasgow2024 #WorldCon is that it is too soon to relax mask mandates at large events. I personally know over a dozen people who have tested positive with #COVID19 at this event, and masking was sparse at best. I know masking isn't fun, it isn't comfortable, and it impacts accessibility, but I think it's still something events should consider making mandatory.
I don't quite know why I spend so little time writing on social media when traveling. Anyway, Scotland is lovely and the company is excellent. Onward to Skye today! image
