This is going to sound "woke", or like "virtue signalling", or just plain bullshit but pretty much the only reason I carry cash these days is to give to homeless people. And I deliberately have cash for this reason when I go to Manchester or London. Cash is completely unnecessary unless you need a coin for a shopping trolley. I pumped up my car tyres today, contactless card payment. No 50p coin required. I'm not a saint, I'm not being Billy big bollocks but I will help folks on the street out. Gladly. I don't need a receipt. Spend wherever you need or want to. Many folks are more grateful for not being ignored or avoided than the actual cash, being seen by "normal" society for a bit. Though the cash is welcome. Trickle down economics exists, but it's more a spring than a waterfall.
