My toddler and I are currently on tour with the Circus Bon Bon in New Zealand 🏹 The circus is like the modern village with many hands doing many jobs. The world needs more spaces and working environments where mothers and their children are encouraged to be there. Things would change so much for the better if mothers could bring their babies to work rather than sending them off to alternative care… 🙌 One more week on tour to go 🫶

In most cultures historically, children lived with or near family until marriage - often in multi-generational homes where land, resources, and care were shared. The idea that individual self-sufficiency is a virtue is a Western invention. Hyper-individualism frames staying connected as weakness. Moving out at 18 fragments families, piles on financial and emotional strain, and locks young adults into the hamster wheel of debt. There shouldn’t be stigma around staying or returning home. This is the modern village! Even if your family dynamics aren’t perfect, you still have the chance to rewrite the story — and create stronger foundations for the generations to come. 🙌
