It highlights how involving non-experts in building networks empowers communities and democratizes technology, shaping it to serve local needs over commercial interests. Armin Medosch began documenting self-managed local networking initiatives with his book Freie Netze, published in 2004 (German only). After his untimely death in 2017, Volker Grassmuck and Adam Burns later initiated the completion of Armin’s publication.
