Don’t allow the evil that others do steal from you the everyday joy of simple pleasures. A lovers kiss. A friends laughter. A hug. It is in moments like these that need to be nourished and honored. They need to be remembered and appreciated everyday. Evil takes. It is the joy of simple pleasures, that sustains.

Don’t make your instance owner have to beg you to help them keep the service you are using running. That includes all of the Fedi services you use. Mastodon, Pixelfed, PeerTube, Lemmy, etc.. Every little bit helps. If you can only give $2 a month, then that’s $2 more they can use to help provide the service to those who can’t even afford $2 a month. If this is truly “the people‘s social media“ then we should all do our part to make sure that it isn't a burden to those that provide it for us

Since a lot of new people have come on I've noticed a rise in people trying to start arguments. It's as if they carried the toxicity from wherever they came from along with them. So this is your reminder that you DO NOT HAVE TO ENGAGE with people who are here just to start fights. Mute them. Block them. Do whatever you have to do to take care of your mental health. They aren't worthy of your time. Let's keep Mastodon and the rest of the Fedi a "social" network and not a "toxic" network.

If you're feeling like the world is falling apart around you and that there's nothing that you can do to make things better... Volunteer. Find a food bank, a shelter, a hospice, a senior center. Find some place where you can lend your time towards the service of others. Volunteering is a great way to do something worthwhile for your community. It takes us out of our own troubles, and focuses that energy on helping others. So go volunteer. Help yourself by helping others.

One of the best ways to make your day better, is to make someone else's day better. Try it.

A lot of newbies don't know, but in the early times of Mastodon an emphasis was put on being as inclusive as possible. One way was a simple courtesy to some of our autistic friends. You see some autistic individuals have issues with pictures that have direct eye contact in them. You know, selfies. To help them, the community decided to make sure to use a content warning or to use the hashtag #selfie so that they can be filtered out. So please, be kind and consider doing the same. Thanks.
