I think that one of the most important hashtag on Mastodon is #today. So much content on here is about politics or complaints about one thing or another. We tend to forget that we are all human and that it's in our everyday lives where we can find commonality. And part of being "social" is to embrace the things we share. It's why I boost #today so much. It's where we can share our plans for the day and see ourselves in the other. Join us in #today. Help keep Mastodon social.

I don't care that TikTok is back. Even if temporarily. I'm done. I used that app way and I mean WAY to much. Probably close to 5 hours throughout the day, It killed a LOT of time for me and was REALLY GOOD at keeping me watching. But I have a strong tendency to back away from things that I feel too attached to. And this shut down, even if it was temporary, has given me the opportunity to just go cold turkey. So I am. I haven't figured out what I'll do with the extra time though. Fun.

Anyone know of a Pixelfed instance for artists with open registration?

I just made a response video on TikTok to someone who said that you shouldn't leave Meta because Zuckerberg WANTS the left to leave and because if you do then your voice will be snuffed out. I replied that Meta IS NOT all of social media and that there is a BETTER social media out there and that everyone should look up "the fediverse". No ads. No corporate bullshit. All owned and operated by everyday people. It amazes me how far people will go to stay on Meta. What a load of shit.

I wonder if it would be smart if someone set up a general donation/subscription fund for times when a Fedi service becomes overwhelmingly popular in a short amount of time, that would go straight to scaling up their servers? That way the response time to the surge would be faster because the admin doesn’t have to ask people for donations. The money will just be allocated to them. It’s an idea anyway. I’ll leave it to smarter people to figure out if it’s worth doing.

If I am elected Mayor of Mastodon... All those fleeing corporate social media will be given a room with a lounge chair, the cookies of their choice, and a continuous stream of their favorite childhood shows until their trauma has passed. Thank you for your vote.
