So I've been using my laptop with the wrong date for a while and #certificate errors meant I could only see #websites when the stars aligned. This was the most productive I've been for a while. So I decided to make this a #browser extension: **Block selected websites, 90% of the time** No more mindless scrolling! No more constant Wikipedia binges! Just occasional ones. It's fine to have fun once in a while.
Has everyone noticed? Here in #Germany almost all #supermarkets use #epaper displays to show prices. They look great. It's hard to notice that it's not ink on dead trees. That's thousands of displays per shop. Times thousands of shops in the entire country. Some of those displays break or otherwise get replaced. So there must be piles of used displays around the country... but where? Does any of my fellow #hackers know how to get some of that #trash treasure? #recycling #upcycling
#Mozilla : "we’ve stepped away from making blanket claims that “We never sell your data”" followed by a list of things that I don't want my #browser to do but Mozilla won't commit to. @Fedora Project with #Firefox 's #privacy focus no longer so clear, what are your options for preserving the privacy? Is the official package going to be watched for problems and fixed by packagers? Are you packaging forks? #fedora #packaging
Woohoo, #libobscura returned an image from the #librem5 ! ``` Buffer size: 823296, seq: 0, timestamp: 18178.362439 [s] Writing to frame.GRBG ``` Now I'm scared to look at the data. It's probably garbage. But the proof of concept is there: you can treat the Media Controller API as a database and query it for valid image pipeline configurations. I wonder if the debayering #shader still works. But first, clean up and publish. #images #camera #linuxmobile #linux #rust
77 commits later, and #libobscura has a scripting system good enough to initialize a #USB #Camera So it's back to the same functionality, except with extra complexity, lol. Next up: organize the commits (don't leave a mess if you want contributors) and make sure #librem5 works the same way. image
Are you using #github for #FOSS ? Small request: could you use FOSS instead? Don't make #Microsoft your gatekeeper, use like #forgejo #codeberg or something. Thanks to @npub103fl...kaf3 's @npub13fle...9ycn , Denver Gingerich and Bradley Kuhn for the #FOSDEM talk. #fosdem2025
#FOSDEM is over. How many of you have seen Bad Apple running on an e-paper screen, smoothly? Because I have, at a private presentation in one of the sitting areas, and, friends, it blew my socks off. Let me tell you, it's funny to see something cast a shadow on a computer screen. Apparently the driver is running a custom FPGA and plenty of it is open source. Good luck @npub19324...02q0 . I want to get one now. #epaper #eink #freesoftware #fosdem2025 #wayland
